What inspired babyAFRICA®?

I designed babyAFRICA ® -- a clothing line -- with the desire to raise money to fund infant development programs in orphanages in Africa. I was inspired to create this line after my volunteer experience in Ethiopia orphanages where I saw first hand how the lack of human attention adversely affected the development of infants to walk and develop other motor skills. My initial project was an attempt to build baby walkers for the kids to use independently while house mothers were serving other children. However, the baby walkers were more hazardous than effective, and so with training in graphic arts I felt I could use my skills and talent to decorate Africa-inspired designs for baby onesies, and similar themed clothing that would appeal to new or expecting mothers in this country and elsewhere with the proceeds to be used to fund programs aimed at addressing the needs for infants and children in African orphanages.
